The Cuu Long River Delta Block-01 PSC (DBSCL-01) is located in southern Vietnam. The Block covers the transition zone and is therefore partly onshore and partly offshore.
The Vin Chau graben is located within the acreage which is located south-west of the highly prolific Cuu Long basin. The acreage is largely unexplored, and Salamander sees potential for the development of a high-quality, oil-prone source rock, as found in the neighbouring Cuu Long basin, and recognises that a variety of potential reservoirs and trap-types exist within the acreage.
Aero-magnetic and bathymetry surveys were acquired in 2007 and a new transition zone 2D seismic data was captured in 2008. Numerous leads and prospects have been identified from this data and the Tom Su Lua-1 exploration well will be drilled in H1 2010. This is targeting gross mean resources of 57 Mmboe and has an 11% CoS.
In December 2009, Salamander farmed out 25% of Block DBSCL-01 to Origin Energy.
