The Sinphuhorm gas field is located on the Khorat Plateau, onshore Northeast Thailand. The field was discovered by Esso in 1984 with the Phu Horm-1 well. Gas is trapped in mid-Permian fractured limestone and dolomite reservoirs of the Pha Nok Kao formation.
There are currently four producing wells on the Phu Horm field - PH-3, -4, -5 and -10 - that are in pressure communication and seeing between 800-900 Bcf of gas. The field has the potential to contain up to 6 Tcf of gas.
Gas came on-stream on 30 November 2006 and is supplied to the Nam Phong power plant under a gas sales agreement with PTT. The agreement provides for the supply of more than 500 billion cubic feet of natural gas over 15 years.
